History of Hartford, Vermont
 Historical
Highlights of the Town of Hartford, VT,
originally published in 1974 by John St. Croix, has been the main
source for information pertaining to Hartford's history for many, many
years. John St. Croix did a wonderful job collecting
photographs and information, but it has been 30 years since the
publication of his book.
The
Hartford Historical Society is undertaking the task of creating a book
to cover items John did not cover and update those that need it.
This will be a similar-in-style book featuring photos and brief
text. We hope to have it ready for the 250th
anniversary of the chartering of the town, in 2011. We plan
to update the book, including photos from the last 30 years, as well as
including newly discovered photos that Mr. St. Croix hadn't included in
his work.
Anyone
wishing to assist in this project is welcome to contact us.
We are looking for people to assist with collecting photos and
information for each of the villages in town. We are also
looking for anyone with old photos that depict things, places or people
that weren't included in Historical Highlights. Photos will
be scanned and promptly returned to the owner.
